British Tourists Abroad

This was the first series I created for the HUMBOLA Exhibition, which is still open to the public this week at Testspace in Leeds. The holiday snapshot illustrations are all based on old family photographs of my parents or my grandparents on various holidays abroad. I had fun drawing them, adding beards, changing hair colour, skin colour and even adding a few pounds, until they were total unrecognisable. The Beach scene is an A3 drawing made up of lots of imaginary characters, taking about a week to finish. I hope you enjoy my sunburnt Brits, go check out these and all the other amazing contributors pieces at Testspace if you're up north this week!

The River's Tale

This was my submission entry for the AOI competition with London Transport Museum. The brief was to create an illustration that showed the benefits of the river Thames, and my idea was inspired by the poem 'The River's Tale' by Rudyard Kipling which speaks of this history thats held within it's waves. I wish I'd had a bit more time on this illustration, I felt like I rushed this. But still, there's definitely elements within the image that I really like... the mermaid being one of them.

My new work will be on display at the HUMBOLA Exhibition launching Friday 27th May at Test Space in Leeds. Its a creative showcase of up & coming illustrators celebrating the art of portraiture through a tombola of human genre, and I've created 2 new series of illustrations for the event. Fridays opening show is a chance for people to come and feast their eyes, enjoy their evening and take something away if they get lucky, with a tombola of prizes up for grabs. There will also be a variety of artwork and gifts by the contributing illustrators on sale. On Saturday, myself and the other illustrators involved will be working in the space and we invite you all to come along and get involved in the days creative activities. The show will be running until the 2nd of June!

Please check out the Test Space website below to see the amazing line up of artists involved...

I've been working with the amazing Brat & Suzie designing their new autumn and winter collection. Because they couldn't wait until then, they decided to print a few of my designs on these lush peach crops just in time for festival season. I've really enjoyed designing characters to go on Brat & Suzie's t-shirts and its been so exciting seeing my work being screen printed onto different colours. I hope you enjoy the rest of my little animal friends which will be crawling onto more of their clothes this autumn!

Here's a wee preview of a new illustration which is a part of a series I'm creating for an up and coming exhibition launched Friday 27th May in Leeds at Test Space. A very talented group of illustrators are getting together to put on this great show, which will hold a really vast range of skills. More details to come...
